QLD Regional, Rural and Remote Digital Youth Disability Summit

Designed to expose young Queenslander's to intersectional leadership and skills to create impact in their communities and engage with change-making speakers and organisations. This summit will just be the beginning of many more opportunities.

  • Living in a regional, rural or remote Queensland

What: 2 day digital summit designed to connect and hear the voices of regional, rural, and remote young people in Queensland with disability.

Workshop
Social Media Intervention to Encourage Young Men and Boys to Reject Harmful Gender Norms

This intervention aims to support young men to cultivate respectful, positive and gender-equal relationships, and encourage them to reject harmful gender norms.

While this intervention is encouraging behaviour change in young men specifically, we encourage applications from young people of any gender because we’re all partners in violence prevention.

Eligibility

  • Ages 16–25

Schedule

🌟 Wed 21st October: Ideation → we’ll generate lots of ways to solve a couple of design questions we have

🌟Wed 28th October: Prototyping → we’ll build rough versions of our favourite ideas to test them with a broader audience before we build them in more detail

🌟Wed 18th November: Iterating and decision-making → we’ll look at the feedback we receive and make changes and decide which idea to take forward

🌟Wed 9th December: Defining success and testing the proof of concept → we’ll come together to decide what success for the intervention would look like and test the proof of concept

💻 All workshops will be held online via Zoom.

Renumeration

$150 per workshop.

Listenability Project

Research designed by, and for, young people with disability and young carers.

Eligibility

  • Lived experience with disability and young carers, aged 15 to 29

What

We want to talk to young people with disability and young carers about how they define good listening, and whether they feel listened to by the organisations and services in their lives.

Focus groups will be held in every state and territory. Dates for Brisbane, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin will be posted on the website during 2027.

If you’re not in one of these cities, or the date doesn’t suit, you can still take part in a 1-on-1 interview online.

Opinion Piece
Youthful Opinions

Y&R is launching a new space on their website for you to express your opinions and views about issues that matter to you.

Eligibility

  • Ages 12-24

What

We're offering free rein on topics - your piece could be about a political or social justice issue, something you feel especially joyful, angry or frustrated about, or some part of your lived experience that you would like to share with the wider world and get some attention on.

Submission format

  • Written (300 - 1000 words)

  • Video format (1-3 minutes in length, MP4 format)

Renumeration

Selected pieces will be published on our website and those authors will receive a $50 gift voucher.

Board Directors contribute to strategic oversight, organisational stewardship and the advancement of WWDACT’s mission. We particularly welcome individuals considering a board role for the first time and provide mentoring and support to all Directors who meet the essential requirements.

  • Commitment to WWDACT’s vision, purpose and values

  • Current full membership of WWDACT (membership is free)

Time Commitment

Eight Board meetings per year, eight online committee meetings and two full‑day planning sessions annually.
