Youth Advisor
Next Gen Taskforce
The Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF) is convening a Next Gen Taskforce, a selective cohort of 10–12 emerging leaders working at the intersection of technology, policy, law, research, media, civil society, and product design. The Taskforce is designed as a policy development and influence mechanism to shape the contours of Australia's digital future.
For its inaugural year in 2026, the Taskforce will focus on the Digital Duty of Care Bill.
Who they’re looking for
Emerging leaders with demonstrated experience in tech policy, law, media, social impact, civil society, product design, UX/UI, or technical development
Individuals actively working on or adjacent to issues such as platform accountability, online safety, AI governance, or digital rights
Strong analytical thinkers with the ability to contribute constructively in high-trust, interdisciplinary settings
Advisors, contributors, members or employees of relevant organisations that can amplify the findings and impacts of the Taskforce
What to expect
A selective cohort (approximately 10–12 members)
Policy report on Digital Duty of Care as the main outcome for 2026
Online meetings (first session scheduled for mid-March) then monthly roundtables until publication in August.
Direct engagement with senior experts and policymakers in the internet governance ecosystem
Contributions subject to oversight and formal approval by the auIGF Oversight Committee

Grant Opportunity
Protostars
Protostars is a micro-grant program for young people with passion projects. They give young people under 25 from AU/NZ, $1000 to work on their passion projects!
Eligibility
1. You are aged 18-25 years old
2. You are based in Australia or New Zealand
3. You have a passion project
What to expect
When you receive a grant, you will join a cohort of like-minded creators for 8 weeks as you work together to launch and build your passion projects. Each week we catch up, learn from each other or special guests, build in public, and host virtual (or IRL) coworking sessions. You’ll also be invited to an IRL dinner during the cohort. At the end of the program, we’ll host a showcase to celebrate your progress.
Once the program is over, you’ll join the wider Protostars community. As a member, you’ll get exclusive access to funding, networking and social events and opportunities.
Research Participation
Help test a new online contraception tool

They’re looking for young people aged 14–20 to take part in a one-on-one online session testing a new online contraception tool developed by Healthdirect.
You’ll be guided through a test webpage, try a few tasks, and share your honest thoughts.
