Teach Us Consent — Under 18's Youth Advisory Group

As a member, you’ll help create better resources, campaigns, social media content, and policies about consent and relationships. You’ll provide input on what’s actually going on in your world, what you and your friends care about, and what adults sometimes get wrong.

Eligibility

  • Ages 13 – 17

What

In the regular meetings, you’ll get the opportunity to share your thoughts on: 

  • Consent and romantic relationships

  • How you feel about social media, your favourite creators & tech

  • Pressures we face to be the right kind of ‘man’ or ‘woman’

  • What you wish you were learning about bodies, sex & each other

  • What you think healthy, respectful and safe relationships look like

  • Voices and topics you think are missing from relationship and consent education 

Renumeration

$60 voucher per hour.

Teach Us Consent — Porn Literacy Youth Advisory Group

Pornography is one of the main forms of sex ed, yet conversations about it are often awkward, oversimplified, or non-existent. We’re bringing together a group of young people to help change that, and shape an upcoming national campaign exploring how porn influences our understanding of sex, relationships, consent, gender and bodies.

Eligibility

  • Ages 18 – 24

What

In our regular meetings, you’ll get the chance to share your thoughts on: 

  • What a porn literacy education campaign should look like and include

  • What conversations about pornography often miss when it comes to the diverse lives and identities of young people

  • What you think young people think and feel about pornography

  • Ways you think pornography could be shaping how we think about sex, relationships, bodies and gender 

  • What kind of sex education you wish you got during & after school

  • The social media and digital platforms you love using, and your favourite creators

Renumeration

Upskilling Workshop
Free Lived Experience Trainings: Being Herd and Amplified Voices

Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) is a partnership between Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) and the Victorian Government established to deliver place-based support, services and opportunities for LGBTQIA+ young people.

What

Being Herd

Training giving you the skills and confidence to turn your lived experience of mental ill-health and seeking support into a story that can make a difference. By learning to share your story safely and impactfully, you can help reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking, and start positive conversations about mental health.

Amplified Voices

Builds on skills from Being Herd by exploring your experiences of navigating the mental health system and how they can support advocacy and systems change. You'll learn how to safely share more complex aspects of your journey and use your lived experience to influence policy, improve services, and create meaningful change.

Eligibility

  • Ages 16 – 30

  • Lived/living experience of mental health challenges.

Upskilling Workshop
Youth Yarns

Youth Yarns is a national series of First Nations-led conversations. It is a safe space for you to speak honestly about your experiences, aspirations, and what the youth sector needs to understand if it’s serious about backing you.

Eligibility

  • Ages 16-26

  • Across Australia

What

The conversations will centre around five core areas:

  • Priorities: What are the most significant enablers and barriers to young people thriving in your community?

  • Decision Making: If a large pool of resources (funding, space, influence) were dedicated to young people's futures, who should decide how it is used?

  • Safety & Enablers: Where do young people currently go to feel culturally safe, heard, and supported to lead? What is missing from those spaces?

  • Power & Authority: What does a future where youth leadership and First Nations knowledge are at the centre of Australian life actually look like in action?

  • Accountability: What does real accountability and reciprocity to young people look like?

Research Workshop
Understanding Young Australians' Wellbeing

Research about what matters most for youth wellbeing. Be part of creating positive change - your insights will help researchers and policymakers better understand and support youth wellbeing in Australia.

Eligibility

• Ages 16-24

• Be able to speak/understand English

• Be able to provide written & verbal consent to participate this project

Time commitment

• One 60-minute online interview (June/July 2026)

• One 60-minute online individual or group interview (unless you opt-out - September/October 2026)

• Total time: 2-3 hours

Youth Advisor
Strengthening Student Voice in Schools: Peer Support Programs

The project aims to increase student voice, agency and leadership in schools.

Eligibility

  • Ages 18-25

  • Living with a disability

  • Live in rural or remote areas

  • Experienced barriers to school attendance

What

The goal of the project is to make existing peer support programs in schools more accessible and inclusive for disabled young people, especially with multicultural backgrounds.

Time commitment

Participation will involve 3 x co-design meetings (1.5 hours each) and 2-3 meetings (1 hour each).

Renumeration

$55 per hour.

Upskilling Program
Art of Hosting Training

A free, 3 day in-person experiential training in participatory leadership.

In Australia, there have been multiple trainings since 2008. This is the first one here dedicated to young people.

Eligibility

  • Ages 15-30 (with flexibility)

  • From culturally diverse backgrounds (with flexibility)

  • Living in Greater Brisbane (with flexibility)

Time commitment

Four 2-hour meetings, held between August 2026 and May 2027
