Heywire Competition
Heywire is about giving Australia a window on your life and/or your community. You are unique and the place where you live is unique, and that makes your story fascinating. Personal stories are the most compelling.
Eligibility
Aged 16 – 22
Lives in regional, rural or remote Australia
What do I submit?
Entries must be a true story about an aspect of your life. Stories can be in any format: text, video or audio — whatever form suits you best!
What do I Win?
-Work with ABC producers to have your story featured on the ABC. Be heard across Australia and internationally.
-All expenses paid trip to the Heywire Summit in Canberra, to develop ideas to make regional Australia a better place for young people.
-The Heywire Summit has seen youth projects developed all over the country. $100,000 is up for grabs each year to implement Heywire Summit ideas.

Youth Advisor
Lived Experience Advisory Council
The Council provides advice on issues that matter to people with lived experience. Members help identify opportunities for reform and improve how governments and services respond to domestic, family and sexual violence. The Council does not provide crisis support, individual advocacy, or complaint resolution.
Eligibility
Be at least 18 years old.
Be a permanent resident of Australia.
Have lived or living experience of domestic, family and/or sexual violence in Australia.
Complete the Self-Reflection Tool and determine that you can participate safely. Be able to commit to the required meeting schedule.
What
Elevate, platform, and lead lived experience engagement and dialogue nationally
Provide advice to inform the Commission’s posture and authoritative strategic policy advice to Government
Identify systemic issues and reform opportunities
Provide advice on policies, programs and service systems
Highlight emerging risks and priorities.
Renumeration
Minimum $95 per hour.

Youth Consultation
Youth Voices Across Australia: Letters to Leaders/ the Prime Minister
We know statistics alone cannot fully capture what life feels like for young people. Personal stories, lived experiences and honest reflections help bring visibility to the issues affecting young people across Australia.
Eligibility
Aged 12-25
What
You can write your letter to Australia as a nation or any leader or decision-maker you would like, including the Prime Minister, a Premier, Minister, Member of Parliament, local councillor, community leader, or another person in a position of influence.
Your letter can be handwritten, typed, drawn, recorded, or shared in whatever format feels most comfortable. You can write about why the issue matters, how it affects young people, and what you want to see change.
Your response may be quoted anonymously in reports, speeches, advocacy materials or presentations to help ensure young people’s voices are heard by decision-makers. Your name will not be shared publicly.
